Overview
The following article explains when it is appropriate to reopen an enrollment vs. when it is not appropriate, and how to do so.
All agency providers with staff access have the ability in HMIS to reopen a program enrollment. Keep in mind that those with limited access, such as volunteers, will not have access to this feature. This means it is our collective responsibility to ensure information entered during a client’s program enrollment is accurate and complete.
Reopening a Program Enrollment
Correcting enrollment errors improves data quality, builds trust through accurate reporting, and overall strengthens our ability to advocate for clients. However, reopening enrollments for appropriately exited clients can compromise data quality and reporting. Accurate program enrollment data plays a key role in helping decision-makers properly allocate resources within the community.
