In early 2020, Northern Colorado formally applied to become a HUD Continuum of Care (CoC)
for the geographic area of Larimer and Weld Counties and was approved by HUD. The new
Northern Colorado CoC worked with the Balance of State CoC to transition relevant projects in
HMIS to their new CoC code, CO-505.
In addition to the new project code, agencies operating in Northern Colorado have a new HMIS
Lead Agency as a point of contact for customer service, Homeward Alliance. Homeward
Alliance hired Marla Sutherland as HMIS System Administrator, who will manage the HMIS Help
Desk, along with a variety of other HMIS-related duties. Starting today, HMIS projects in
Northern Colorado CoC should no longer submit HMIS tickets to Colorado Coalition for the
Homeless’ Help Desk, and should switch to firstname.lastname@example.org and 970-430-6442, or
continue to use the COHMIS Statewide Help Desk at cohmis.zendesk.com and select ‘Northern
Colorado’ as the designated CoC for ticket requests.
The Northern Colorado HMIS Lead Agency will be reaching out to existing Northern Colorado
HMIS providers to collect new Partner Agency agreements, meet with the Data Partner Agency
Liaisons (DPALs) and introduce the HMIS Manager. As part of the COHMIS Statewide
Collaborative, the Northern Colorado CoC will use the same HMIS 101 training as the other
CoCs, and offer HMIS 201 training starting in late spring.
For agencies in Northern Colorado that are not using HMIS yet, but want to, Homeward Alliance
is requesting that they indicate their interest to email@example.com for follow-up in
early summer 2020. Homeward Alliance is excited about the enthusiasm of additional
participation and wants to have a few months under our belt as HMIS Lead Agency before
onboarding new partners.
